What to Expect From Your Site Survey

Surveyed by our team, guaranteed to fit.

Your site survey is a key milestone in your project. It is where everything is finalised and your doors are prepared for production. This guide explains what will happen on the day, how to prepare, and why the survey is so important.

Expert Surveyors You Can Trust

All surveys are carried out by experienced Steel Door Company surveyors. We never outsource this stage of the process.

Our surveyors:
Are specialists in bespoke steel doors

Use state-of-the-art measuring equipment

Understand the precision required to manufacture handmade steel doors

Because accuracy at survey stage is critical, we take full responsibility for the measurements.

If we measure it, we guarantee it will fit.

Why the Survey Matters

We manufacture handmade, bespoke steel doors, built specifically for your space. Every door is made to measure, which means accuracy at survey stage is essential.

Once a survey has been successfully completed and signed off, your doors are released into production.
All quoted lead times begin from this point.

Any delays in site readiness or final decision-making will directly affect lead times.

Booking Your Survey

Our team will work with you to schedule a convenient survey date.

On the day:

  • Your surveyor will call you approximately 30 minutes before arrival

Please ensure the site is accessible and ready on arrival

A Consultative Process

The survey is not just about measurements. It is a consultative session where all final details are confirmed.

During the survey, we will:

Take all final measurements

Confirm door handings and layouts

Review and sign off your final design choices

Confirm colours, finishes, and glass options

Lock in all details required for production

Once these details are signed off, your doors move into production.

Who Needs to Be Present

It is essential that all key decision makers are present at the survey.

Final decisions are made and approved on the day. Having everyone present ensures:

No delays in approvals

Accurate specifications

Quoted lead times can be maintained

Delays in making final decisions will result in longer lead times.

Making Sure Your Site Is Survey Ready

To ensure a successful survey, the site must be fully complete and unchanged, including:
Floors fully laid

Walls fully formed and plastered

Openings finished to final dimensions

You will also be asked to provide site photos in advance and confirm that no changes will be made before installation.

Survey Requirement and Fees

A site survey is mandatory unless the order is supply only

Survey cost: £399 (non-refundable)

If the site is not ready, access is unavailable, or the customer is not present, the appointment will be treated as a missed survey and will need to be rebooked.

Rescheduling fee: £399 + VAT

Cancellations or changes with less than 24 hours’ notice will also incur a new survey fee

In Summary

Your site survey is where we confirm every detail, finalise the design, and release your doors into production.

Being prepared and present ensures a smooth process, accurate manufacturing, and the best possible lead times.
